Developers to get help with meeting new construction requirements
The construction requirements are aimed at raising productivity. Details of help available for developers will be announced next month.
SINGAPORE: Developers in Singapore may soon get help in meeting new construction requirements introduced in November last year.
Speaking at the annual Chinese New Year celebration lunch organised by the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore on Friday (Feb 27), Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Grace Fu said details will be announced next month.
The new requirements include adopting more labour-efficient construction methods and technologies. They are aimed at raising productivity in the construction sector.
Ms Fu said developers have a key role to play in the push towards higher productivity.
“As developers, you have an important role in driving productivity in construction. From 2010 to 2013, worksite productivity had improved by about 1.2 per cent per annum,” she said. “Our target is 2 to 3 per cent per annum and we need to do more to achieve higher productivity gains in the next few years.”
